FORD GRADUATE PROGRAM

Designed for new graduates.

Just finished school? Hollis Ford and Ford Credit Canada offer a Graduate Program for recent and upcoming graduates of Canadian universities, colleges, CEGEPs, and accredited military or police academies. Limited credit history is okay.

What is the Ford Graduate Program?

The Ford Credit Graduate Program is an auto financing option for recent and upcoming graduates of accredited Canadian post-secondary institutions and military or police academies. At Hollis Ford in Truro, Nova Scotia, qualified graduates can finance a new or Hollis Ford Certified Pre-Owned vehicle even without an established credit history, using a confirmation of employment or job offer in place of years of credit. It is one of three Ford Credit Canada special programs, alongside the First-Time Buyer Program and Newcomer Program.

Who qualifies as a graduate in Nova Scotia?

You can apply for credit under Ford Credit's Graduate Program at Hollis Ford if you are 18 years of age or older and fall into one of the following three categories:

Category Requirement
Recent or upcoming graduate Graduated, or will graduate within the next 4 months, from an accredited Canadian university undergraduate program, a 2-year Canadian college program, a 3-year CEGEP D.E.C. program in Quebec, or a recognized military or police academy.
Recent post-graduate Full-time post-graduate student who has graduated from an accredited Canadian university with a Master's, Doctorate, or PhD program within the last 24 months.
Upcoming post-graduate Full-time student who will graduate from an accredited Canadian university with a Master's, Doctorate, or PhD program within the next 24 months.

Common qualifying institutions in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada

Graduates from accredited institutions across Atlantic Canada qualify, including (but not limited to) Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University, Mount Saint Vincent University, Acadia University, Cape Breton University, St. Francis Xavier University (StFX), Université Sainte-Anne, NSCC (Nova Scotia Community College), the Université de Moncton, Memorial University of Newfoundland, UPEI, and the Royal Military College of Canada. If your school is accredited by a provincial ministry of education, it almost certainly qualifies -- check with our finance team if you are unsure.

Don't quite fit?

If you didn't graduate from a Canadian institution but are new to Canada, the Newcomer Program may apply. If you have lived in Canada longer but have never financed a vehicle, the First-Time Buyer Program is likely the right fit.

Documents to bring to your Hollis Ford appointment

Have these ready and the application moves quickly -- many graduate applications are processed the same business day:

  • Proof of graduation -- your diploma, official transcript, letter of completion from the registrar, or expected-graduation letter (for upcoming grads).
  • Government-issued photo ID -- your Nova Scotia driver's licence works perfectly.
  • Proof of income or employment offer -- your most recent paystub, or a signed job offer letter from your future employer with start date and salary.
  • Proof of address -- a recent utility bill, lease agreement, or bank statement showing your current Nova Scotia address.
  • Banking information -- a void cheque or pre-authorized debit form for setting up payments.

Ford Credit Canada retains the right to request additional documentation during the credit application process. All requested documentation must be satisfactory to Ford Credit.

Why graduates choose Hollis Ford in Truro

Hollis Ford has been serving Truro, Colchester County, and Atlantic Canada since 1977. From our location at 266 Robie Street, we work with new graduates from across the Maritimes -- including grads who studied in Halifax, Antigonish, Wolfville, Sydney, Sackville, Moncton, Charlottetown, and St. John's -- and have moved to central Nova Scotia for their first jobs.

No-pressure financing

We explain HST, registration, and any optional protection products in plain language so there are no surprises.

Build your credit

Every on-time payment is reported to Equifax and TransUnion -- the foundation for your future mortgage, rental, and insurance applications.

Local since 1977

Your application is reviewed locally in Truro by people who live in the community -- not by an out-of-province call centre.

Graduate Program -- Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for the Graduate Program before I officially graduate?

Yes. If you will graduate within the next 4 months from an undergraduate, college, CEGEP, or accredited military or police academy program, you can apply now. For a Master's, Doctorate, or PhD, you can apply if you'll graduate within the next 24 months. Bring an expected-graduation letter from your registrar -- that's typically all you need to prove your status.

Do I need a job offer to qualify?

You need proof of income or expected income. This can be a recent paystub from your current job, a signed job offer letter from your new employer with the start date and salary, or proof of stable income from another source. The Hollis Ford finance team will tell you exactly what works in your situation.

How long after graduating am I still eligible?

For undergraduate, college, CEGEP, and military or police academy graduates, the Ford Credit Graduate Program applies if you graduated recently or will within the next 4 months. For Master's, Doctorate, and PhD graduates, eligibility extends to 24 months after graduation. If you're outside these windows, the First-Time Buyer Program may still apply.

What's the difference between the Graduate Program and the First-Time Buyer Program?

The Graduate Program is specifically for recent and upcoming Canadian post-secondary graduates and uses your education and job offer in the credit decision. The First-Time Buyer Program is broader -- it's for any Canadian who has never financed a vehicle and has limited credit history, regardless of education status. If you qualify for both, the Graduate Program often offers more favourable terms.

Does the Graduate Program apply to Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) graduates?

Yes -- NSCC two-year programs are eligible. The Ford Credit Graduate Program applies to graduates of accredited Canadian 2-year college programs, which includes NSCC, Holland College, NBCC, Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, and similar institutions across Canada.

Can military and police academy graduates apply?

Yes. Graduates of recognized Canadian military and police academies qualify under the program. Bring your certificate of completion or graduation along with the standard income and ID documents.

Is a down payment required?

A down payment is not always required, but it can lower your monthly payment, reduce total interest paid, and offset higher rates that sometimes apply to applicants with limited credit history. Hollis Ford will run scenarios with and without a down payment so you can choose what fits your post-graduation budget.

Can I use the Graduate Program to buy a used Ford in Truro?

Yes. Eligible new Ford vehicles and Hollis Ford Certified Pre-Owned vehicles can be financed under the program. Many recent grads choose a certified pre-owned vehicle like the Ford Maverick, Escape, or EcoSport to keep payments aligned with their first-job income.

Congratulations, graduate. Let's get you on the road.

Apply now or call us. Most graduate applications get a same-day answer.
